Coffee grounds are a great addition to soil. Coffee grounds will add nitrogen to your soil which will make them helpful for some of your plants. Coffee grounds as a source of nitrogen for plants are usually limited to acid-loving plants because coffee is acidic. The more nitrogen you have in the soil, the greater the growth of your plants will be, so adding grounds or compost will ensure your plants grow large very quickly.
Grow garlic in your organic garden. Wait until early spring or the fall to plant cloves in a moist soil. Place them about one to two inches deep in the soil, pointed end up, and four inches apart. You can cut green garlic shoots while they grow, you can then use them in place of scallions and chives. The garlic is ready to be picked when the tops turn brown. You should dry them outside in a sunny spot for a couple of days to harden the skin. Store the cloves in a cool area. They can be tied or left loose.
You can simply make a newer garden for perennials with a few steps. Simply use a spade to cut underneath your turf, then flip the turf over and spread a few inches worth of wood chips across the area. Wait a few weeks and then plant your perennials into the brand new bed.
Ensure your soil is health by adding mulch. Mulch can protect the ground it sits upon. On hot, dry days, mulch keeps the dirt underneath cool and moist. This protects and nourishes plant roots. It will also stop the soil from losing it’s moisture in the hot sunlight. It can also help alleviate any weed issues.
Anyone can have a garden, but it takes knowledge to have a productive and healthy one. Be sure to apply the useful tips you have read here and enjoy.
